Welcome to Essential Wellness 

In 2017, I started Essential-Wellness.net in the hopes that I could encourage and educate others to the dangers of the toxins and chemicals that are not only in our environment, but also in our body products and cleaning products. I also want people to realize that in order to have wellness, you need whole-body wellness, meaning that wellness does not come from how you look or how much you work out – it comes from being mindful of what you put in and on your body as well as the environment you create for it. Don’t get me wrong, exercise is very important, but how many of you work out like crazy, but never seem to lose the pounds you need to or you think you’re eating healthy but still feel horrible? It’s because you need to listen to your body and make the changes necessary to live to your fullest.

I believe there are three things that affect whole body wellness:

What you put in

What you put into your body is huge. Food is fuel to your body. If you’re putting food that doesn’t agree with your body,  your body won’t function like it should. I’m not talking junk food which everyone knows they should stay away from. I’m talking about food that doesn’t agree with you personally. Unfortunately, you have to be pretty lucky to not have any food sensitivities these days and I think that finding out what you are sensitive to is the key to a healthy gut which in turn means a healthier you.

What you put on

What are you putting on your body? Our society has such a ridiculous notion that our outward appearance matters as much, if not more than what is on the inside. Of course that’s a bad way to view the world and others, but it’s a trap we all fall into. Beauty products, shampoos, lotions, etc. The list of things we think need to go on our body is ridiculous, and poisonous to our systems. Most of these “beauty” products are full of chemicals and fragrances that can cause so much damage to our system it’s unreal and instead of spending your later or even middle years with vim and vigor, you are spending your time and money on doctors and medication with barely enough energy to get through the day.

What are you living in

Does your life stress you out? Is your house full of toxic cleaners? Are you in dept. All of these things cause damage which may lead to bigger problems. Not to mention the chemicals you’re putting on you clothes, dishes, counters, and floors. All these chemicals that you are breathing in and again putting on your skin.

Our family story

My family has undergone a slow transformation in which we have had to take a hard look at these areas in our lives and had to make the changes necessary in order to bring balance back into our families wellness. Unfortunately most of these changes were brought on because even though we ate wholesome foods, our bodies were telling us something was wrong. I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue, food sensitivities and very low vitamin levels. My children were diagnosed with a large amount of food sensitivities, as well as both carrying two genes of the non-celiac gluten sensitivity. It was hard to understand since I thought that I had been feeding my family the very best and didn’t understand why, but the truth is we are not going to reach perfection this side of heaven. And God has used these things to bring around a whole body wellness in that He taught me to slow down, He did not create us to be crazy busy. He taught me that life happens and His grace is abundant.

The tools that I use for this journey is grace, essential oils, and discernment.

Grace

Grace is huge because you will have times when you fail. Life happens and it’s hard, but God’s grace is sufficient. We can beat ourselves up and stop trying or we can realize God is in control of this life. We live and put our trust in him and not ourselves.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are an amazing tool to use on this journey. We use them by making our own cleaning supplies, lotions, “beauty” products and to support our immune system. My girls are getting to that age when I really don’t want their hormones messed with. I don’t want to bring on their period any earlier then when God intends for it to happen. They enjoy making their own perfume or choosing the smell of their deodorant.

Discernment

The other tool is our gut or discernment. If you feel like something is wrong with you, trust that and see your doctor and do your own research. When I first started feeling like something was off, I started giving myself all kinds of excuses. I would push myself harder because I thought I was getting lazy and even after I did some research and I started getting a clue as to what was going on I allowed fear of spending too much money and not wanting to change things get in the way of my wellness. I’m going to tell you some truth the changes I made were not easy but the wellness that I feel now definitely out way, what it took for me to get where I am.
